On Saturday, Jan. 20, 2019, the Angels came to retrieve one of God’s children.

Mary (Szot) Sobczak born and raised in New Britain, March 7, 1929, was predeceased by her husband, Edward, Sr. and son, Edward, Jr. Mary also leaves behind her daughter, Cindy Mavis, whom which she resided within Berlin, granddaughter, Jolene Mavis, who helped care for her and her great-granddaughter, Lilah Skye Mavis, who made her smile every day. She also leaves her granddaughter, Kara Mavis of Tampa Fla., who cared for her as well. Mary retired from Stanley Works after 23 years of service and loved the Boston Red Sox and UConn basketball. There are no calling hours; the service in her honor will be on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in New Britain, followed by the Chapel at Sacred Heart Cemetery. She will be loved and missed dearly by all, may she rest in peace.
