Edward J. Oâ€™Keefe, Jr., 79, of St Petersburg, Fla., passed away unexpectedly March 28. Born and raised in New Britain, he was the son of the late Edward and Marguerite (McEnroe) Oâ€™Keefe, Sr. He attended E.C. Goodwin Tech and enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Saufly. In 1966, Ed married the love of his life Joan Whalen and they shared 53 wonderful years together. They moved to the West Coast and raised their family in California. His hobbies included model trains and designing logos for model trucks, etc.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to mourn him his sons, Sean Oâ€™Keefe of St Petersburg, Fla., and Edward Oâ€™Keefe of Henderson, Nev., his grandchildren, Devin, Kelsey, Rian, and Shaelin. He also leaves
behind his sisters, Sheila Masella, Geraldine Curtis of New Britain, and Karen and her husband, Fred Ortola of Niantic, brother-in-law, Sam Germano of Berlin, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret Nelson, Catherine Basile, Eileen Germano, and Patricia Kreidler.
Ed was a caring, outgoing and fun loving person and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A Mass celebrating his life will be held at a later date.
