It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Morrisett, 53, of New Britain, Conn., affectionately known as “Smiley.” John was born in Hartford, Conn., and was the son of Agnes Brett and the late Benjamin Morrisett. He was a generous person who would light up a room with his smile and will be greatly missed by family and friends. John attended the Holmes Elementary School and Pulaski High School. He worked for Connecticut Tire in New Britain for many years and recently took care of his aging mom while running his landscaping business. John was very fond of his cat “Blacky” who he brought home from work in his pocket after finding her abandoned shortly after birth.

John is survived by his mother, a brother, and two sisters. John was predeceased by his best friend and brother, Bryan

The Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, Conn., has charge of arrangements. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. The family will have private services and invite his many friends to celebrate his life in their own way.
