Joe Cardella Jr.

Joe Cardella, Jr. was born July 20, 1945, in New Britain, to Joseph and Joanne (Insalaco) Cardella. He attended local public schools and graduated from New Britain Senior High in 1963. He also earned a BA degree in design and advertising from Syracuse University. Settling in Ventura, Calif., in 1988, he helped transform the local art scene into an innovative art community. Joe is best known for publishing, “ART/LIFE,” an original Limited-Edition monthly magazine, from 1981 to 2006. He died May 15, 2018, of esophageal cancer. He is survived by his son, Aaron Giovanni Cardella, of Portland, Ore. Joe’s legacy of promoting the creative arts will continue through the foundation ARTLIFE, INC. a 501(c)(3) organization.
