Eugene Anderson

Eugene “Gene” Anderson, 84, of Bokeelia, Fla., passed away April 30, 2019, at Cape Coral Hospital. Born and raised in Kensington, son of the late Oscar Gunnar Anderson and Veronica (Osalza) Anderson, he retired to Florida in 1987. Gene was a graduate of Berlin High School, Class of 1952, and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford and Middletown, and later in the oil business, retiring in 1987. Gene was an avid fisherman, loved woodworking and tinkering with mechanical things.

He is survived by a son, William “Bill” Anderson and his wife, Victoria of Colchester; a daughter, Deborah Stevens and her husband, Roy of Niantic; a brother, Richard G. Anderson of New Britain; a sister, Marguerite Pepin, also of New Britain; three grandchildren, Billy Anderson of Colchester, Nicole, and Chelsea Stevens, both of Niantic; a great-grandson Ryan; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are Wednesday 11 a.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Burial with military honors will follow in West Lane Cemetery, Kensington. Calling hours are Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
