Kazimierz Swiatlowski, 98, of New Britain, died on Friday, Sept. 6, 2019. He was one of eight children born in Poland and moved to the U.S. in 1957 with his family.
Kazimierz worked as a foreman for Atlantic Machine Tool for many years. He enjoyed gardening and growing vegetables, fishing and bowling in a weekly league. Kazimierz was a devoted parishioner and Eucharistic Minister of Sacred Heart Church. He was proud of his Polish heritage and was a member of and served as an officer for the S.H. Holy Name Society, the Polish Falcons Nest 88 and Gen. Haller Post 111. His willingness to dedicate his time and help others will always be remembered.
He is survived by his daughter, Jadwiga “Heddy” Irwin; his grandchildren, Isabelle Rabel and husband John, and Margaret Damato; his great-grandchildren: Richard, Michael, Julia, Jessica, Amanda, Rachel and Michael and several nieces and nephews in Poland. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Izabella (Bajger) Swiatlowski, his granddaughter, Christine Scott, and his seven siblings.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 5-7 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain. A brief visitation at Burritt Hill will begin at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church.
