Nancy, 93, died from natural causes on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at her home in Evergreen Woods, North Branford.
She was born in New York City on Sept. 30, 1926, to Anson W.H. and Caroline Taylor, and grew up in Greenwich. She was a graduate of Wellesly College, Class of 1948. In 1949 she married Robert A. Hicks, who predeceased her by 24 years, and moved to New Britain. She was active in her community during her years in New Britain, serving as president of the VNA and of the New Britain Garden Club, librarian at Mooreland Hill School, member of The First Congregational Church, docent at the New Britain Art Museum, and a board member of the Colonial Dames in CT. Her later years were spent in Madison and North Branford. Nancy loved to travel, visit relatives, and to play bridge and tennis.
Her sister, Audrey MacLean survives her, along with nephews and nieces; though her brother, Anson, and sister-in-law, Marilyn had predeceased her. She is survived by her four children, Andy, Rusty, Caroline, and David, and their spouses; her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family is deeply grateful to Patty Condon and other home health aides and nursing staff, who allowed her to live comfortably in her home during her later years.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at First Congregational Church of Madison on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to the New Britain Art Museum. To sign the online guestbook please visit .
