Maria Emilia (Rekas) Paul, 88, of Glastonbury, beloved wife of Michal Paul, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family, Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at The Hospital of Central CT.
Maria was born July 3, 1931, and raised in Poland, daughter to the late Michal and Katarzyna (Goracy) Rekas. She and Michal began their family in Poland prior to emigrating to the United States in 1971. They resided in Hartford until 1986 at which time they moved to Glastonbury, where they have lived until the present time. Maria was a devout Catholic and faithful communicant of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford. She was employed at Hartford Hospital for over 20 years, retiring in 1995.
Along with her husband Michal, Maria will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her two sons, Zbigniew Paul and his wife, Lorianna, of Fla., Christopher Paul of Conn.; a daughter, Jolanta Gutowski and her husband, Bodgan, of Conn.; four adored grandchildren, Hannah Paul, Michael Paul, Merrill Gutowski and Loren Gutowski; as well as extended family throughout the United States, Canada and Poland.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Paul family Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, in Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Maria’s life will be held Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, at 10 a.m., in SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 63 Popieluszko Court, in Hartford (Attendees are asked to go directly to the church). A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., in Cedar Grove Cemetery (Section M), 638 Broad St., in New London.
