Celia G. (Guzauckas) Harris, 86, of New Britain, passed away on Friday, January 10th, 2020, after a difficult battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was the loving wife to the late Robert “Bob” Harris. The two shared a love that most would envy. They were seldom seen apart from one another and for 64 years they held each other’s hand whenever possible. Born in New Britain to the late Joseph and Nellie (Lipnickas) Guzauckas, she was a lifelong New Britain resident and graduate of New Britain High School. She retired from the New Britain Board of Education where she worked in the payroll dept. for many years. Ceil was a faithful Catholic and a very active member of St. Andrew’s Church in New Britain for most of her life. Ceil and Bob loved spending time at the beach, especially on Cape Cod. Over the years, they also loved to camp and travel with a tight-knit group of extremely close friends known as the “Banana Bunch.” Ceil was able to enjoy the comforts of home thanks to the loving care given to her by her daughter Deb up until her final moments, where she passed at Bel-Air Manor. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Bel-Air Manor, as well as Masonicare Hospice for their compassionate care. Ceil leaves her three beloved children: Deb Harris of New Britain, Bob Harris and his wife Lori of Leland, N.C., and Mark Harris and his wife Linda of Newington; her granddaughter Mya Harris; her brother Joe Guzauckas and his wife Roseanne; her sister Jean Michelson and husband Harry and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her loving husband Bob, she was predeceased by her brothers John and Donald and her sisters Terri, Julie, and Eva. Celia’s funeral will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, January 16th, at Duksa Family Funeral Homes, Newington Memorial, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. at St Andrew’s Church in New Britain. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Andrew’s Church, 396 Church St., New Britain, CT 06050. To share a memory with her family, please visit us at www.duksa.net .
