Grove F. Steele

Grove F. Steele, 80, passed Thursday (February 6, 2020). Grove was the son of the late Francis and Hilda (Henrickson) Steele. He leaves his sister Susan and brother-in-law Gary Hale of Killingworth. Grove was a New Britain native who was a prominent youth baseball player and an avid, but not very good, golfer. After graduating from the University of CT, Grove entered the Unites States Air Force where he served for 20 years, retiring as a Major. He was awarded a bronze star for his service in Vietnam.

After retiring from the USAF, he worked as a stock broker for 5 years and then as a Tax Preparer for H&R Block in Middletown for 21 years. Politics was on of his main interests, serving on the New Britain Republican Town Committee for 12 years. Grove was a very Patriotic American.

A Memorial service will be held Wednesday 10 AM at the First Church of Christ Congregational, 830 Corbin Avenue, New Britain. Burial with military honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to First Church of Christ, Congregational.
