Pauline (Nicky) Gadzik, 92, of New Britain, died Dec. 18, 2020.
She was born on Sept. 11, 1929, and was the daughter of John and Alice (Johnson) Nicolucci. A lifelong resident of New Britain, she attended New Britain High School and later E.C. Goodwin Technical school where she received certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked as a nurse for 25 years at the Jerome Home.
Pauline attended St. Maurice Church. In retirement, Nicky enjoyed the theatre, traveling, was a member of the Woman’s Club of New Britain but mostly enjoyed spending time with her many friends and doting on her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, gregarious spirit and kind heart.
Pauline leaves three children, Dr. James Gadzik and his wife, Judith, of Westport; Susan MacArthur and her husband, James, of Farmington; and Mary-beth Hart of Avon; six grandchildren, Jonathan Gadzik, Lindsay Gadzik, John MacArthur and his wife, Leah, James Patrick MacArthur and Olivia and Madeleine Hart; sister, Mable Giza and her husband, Leonard, of New Britain; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela (Gadzik) Saunders, and her husband, John Stanley Gadzik. The Gadzik family would like to thank the healthcare team at the UConn Health Center, Seasons Hospice and especially the many team members at Jerome Home and Arbor Rose for making her feel safe and cherished during the pandemic.
