Valerian J. Piera Jr. (Val), 83, of Middletown, passed away on Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, at Hartford Hospital.

Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Valerian James Piera and Lucy (Uccello) Piera. Val was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy. He grew up and lived in New Britain before moving to Middletown 20 years ago. He was formerly employed at Emhart/Black and Decker in Berlin before retiring. Val also enjoyed playing pool and played on many leagues. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and loved to cook for his family. His favorite thing to do was to sit at the dinner table surrounded by his family, all of whom will miss him terribly.
