Kayla M. Selander, 21, of Norwich, passed away Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021 at Backus Hospital. Kayla was born in New Britain and was the daughter of Michael Selander and Monica Lidzbarski. Kayla loved life, children, cooking, dancing and nature. She was compassionate, with a big heart and put others before herself. Kayla wanted to attend nursing school. Kayla was a member of Holy Cross Church.

Besides her parents, Kayla is survived by her step-mother Althea Shaw of Suffield, her three brothers Robert Traceski, Jr. of New Britain, Nicholas Serio of Uncasville and Peter Drwiega of Avon, her grandmother Maria Lidzbarski of New Britain and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral rites for Kayla will be held Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. with the procession departing at 10 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by a Liturgy of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St. Joachim Parish Church of St. Mary Church, 544 Main St., New Britain. Committal service and final resting place will be in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley St., New Britain. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Due to COVID-19 a reception will be held on her birthday July 4.
