Josephine E. Bradley

Josephine E. Bradley, 97, died peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at home. Born in New Britain on Jan. 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Victoria (Gualtieri) Savoca. She graduated from New Britain High School , Class of 1941 and was employed by the State of Conn. Judicial Branch, retiring at age 72. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, where she was a member of the choir and taught CCD.

The Meriden Senior Center Annual Spelling Bee is named after her and she was recognized for this by the Meriden Board of Education in 2013. Josephine was a self-described “bingo junkie” and an avid sports fan. She loved her Yankees, hated the Red Sox, and never missed a UConn Women’s basketball game.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Seeley and her husband Carl Seeley of Wallingford; her two sons, John Bradley and his wife Tracy of Manchester, and Steve Bradley and his wife Kim of Wallingford; her two grandsons, Colin Bradley of Underhill, Vt. and Harry Bradley of Wallingford; and her sister Helen of New Britain. She was predeceased by her brother, James Savoca, and her sisters, Marion Savoca, Teresa Nicholas, Adeline Savoca and Rose Savoca.

Due to the pandemic, all services are private. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St, Meriden.
