Janina (Piekarz) Bak, 80, of New Hyde Park, N.Y., and formerly of New Britain, died on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021. Born in Poland, she and her husband immigrated to the U.S. in 1982 and briefly lived in New Britain before moving to New York. Janina was a talented seamstress and excellent baker. She always enjoyed making delicious desserts for family and friends. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, Boguslaw and Bozena Bak, and Grzegorz and Aneta Bak; her grandchildren, Regina, Zaneta and husband Zack, Patryk, Karolina, Natalia and Oliwia. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, New Britain. Face coverings are mandatory. Social distancing and capacity limitations will be strictly observed. She will be laid to rest privately next to her husband in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There are no public calling hours.
