Gladys Cloukey

Gladys Cloukey, 90, of New Britain, widow of the late Melvin Cloukey, earned her angel wings on Thursday January 28, 2021. Gladys was born in St. Agatha, Maine on October 3, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Simeon and Weeda (Coutrier) Chamberland. She was employed at JCPenny for many years as a seamstress. Gladys was a selfless woman who volunteered many hours for both St. Francis of Assisi Church where she was a parishioner and for their school. In her leisure time, she loved to read, sew, cook, root for her favorite team, the Boston Red Sox, and spending quality time with her grandchildren. Gladys was a devout catholic who faithfully watched the Celebration of the Eucharist on channel 9 every day. She also loved to pray the rosary. Gladys is survived by her three children; her daughter Karen Kinneair and her husband Ronald of Florida, and her two sons; Kerry Cloukey and his wife Nadine of Middletown and Kevin Cloukey of New Britain. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Joseph, Matthew and Kayla, three sisters, Jeanine, Pauline and Aline and by her brother Phil, her brother in law Norman, sister in laws Geraldine, Teresa, Lola and Cecile. Gladys is pre deceased by her siblings, Corrine, Reid, Edward, Richard, Camille and Elmer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday February 3, 2021 at 10:00 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley Street, New Britain, CT 06053. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Britain. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the New Britain Memorial Donald D.
