Ersilia (Stella) Pifferi

Ersilia (Stella) Pifferi, 89, of Southington passed away Jan. 30 with family by her side. “Ceil” was born June 23, 1931, in Canicattini Bagni, Sicily, the daughter of Francesco and Sebastiana (Lombardo) Stella. She emigrated to the United States with her sister Matilda and mother where they joined her father. Ceil grew up in New Britain and attended local schools. She met her husband Bartolommeo “Ben” Pifferi in high school and they were married in 1952. Ceil graduated from the former Teachers College in New Britain where she also earned her Master’s Degree. Ceil was an educator for nearly 40 years, most of that time with the Newington Public Schools. Ceil and Ben loved to travel and over the years they traveled around the world.

Ceil is survived by her husband Ben; sister Matilda (Stella) Orsi of New Britain; son and daughter-in-law Paul and Sherilyn Pifferi of Farmington; grandson and wife Stephen and Joyce Pifferi of Avon; granddaughter and husband Emily (Pifferi) and Steve DeBiase of Simsbury; great grandson Nathan DeBiase; her cherished nephew Robert Orsi and his partner Thomas McConnell of New Britain.

A memorial Mass will be scheduled in June. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, has been entrusted with the arrangements. For online condolences please visit, .
