Franciszek Szczesniak, 72, of New Britain, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Feb. 6, 2021, with family at his side after battling cancer. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Zofia Szczesniak, of 52 years. Frank was born in Poland to the late Jan and Janina Szczesniak who immigrated as a family to the United States in 1965. He retired from EDAC Technology (previously Caval Tool) as a machine operator. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and faithfully prayed with his wife the Divine Mercy chaplet each day on EWTN. Frank leaves behind his loving daughters Krystyna (Grzegorz) Figiel, Barbara McLaughlin, Julie Szczesniak, and a son, Adam (Alice) Szczesniak. He will be dearly missed by his beloved grandchildren Michael, Melissa, Steven, Elizabeth, and Lorelei. He was predeceased by his brother, Stefan and survived by his sisters Teofila (Jan) Rodziewicz of Charlotte, N.C., and Maria (Gary) Kenzior of Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, raising chickens, tending to his vegetable garden, Sunday drives with his wife to visit his kids and to the beach at Harkness Park. Frank’s family would like to express deep gratitude to Dr. Harbut, Dr. Malkin, Dr Hosmer, medical assistant Claribel, and the nursing staff who cared for him during his illness. New Britain Memorial is entrusted with arrangements. Calling hours will be Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. till 11:30 a.m. at New Britain Memorial followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. that will take place at Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St., New Britain, followed by burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 662 Burritt St., New Britain.
