Beatrice B. 'Bea' Donahue

Donahue, Beatrice B. (Bea) passed away March 24, 2021 at age 84 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in New Britain CT, the daughter of Allan and Anna (Schreiner) Brown. Bea received her RN degree from New Britain General Hospital in 1958 and then spent 37 years as a head nurse with the Red Cross blood program. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Dillon Donahue and two sisters Barbara Carr (husband Edward) and Dorothy Davis (husband Edward). She is survived by nieces Patricia Carr (partner Bob Gonynor), Kathleen Kurpaska (husband Tom), Erin Carr (husband Steve Gentile) and nephews Michael Carr (wife Diana), Daniel Carr (wife Jackie), Jeffrey Davis, Glen Davis (wife Melody) and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Bea spent the last 23 years with the love of her life Robert (Bob) Simmons of Rocky Hill CT who passed away in February. Bea is also survived by Bob’s children and grandchildren who she loved dearly, children: Heidi Simmons-Chouinard (husband Luc), Jeffrey Simmons (wife Sherri), grandchildren: Alex, Eric, and Julie Chouinard, and; Hayley and Matthew Simmons. Bea and Bob had many common interests including gardening, tag sales, UCONN basketball, long rides in the country and cruising to warmer climates. Bea was a long time member of the Rocky Hill Congregational Church. A virtual celebration of life for both Bea and Bob will be held Sunday April 18th, please contact Rocky Hill Congregational Church or a family member for the zoom link. Graveside services will be held privately.
