Doris (Zola) Pentore, 96, of Kensington, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021. She was the widow of Harry Pentore who died Feb. 11, 2016.

Born on Nov. 16, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Louis Zola and Rena (Bigotto) Zola Saglio and step-daughter of William Saglio. Doris grew up on a dairy and fruit farm on John Tom Hill in Glastonbury and loved to tell stories about her childhood there. She graduated from Buckingham School and then Glastonbury High School in 1942. She worked at Travelers and then married Harry Pentore in 1950 and moved to Kensington. She worked at the family owned grocery business, Towne Food Center, where she made many wonderful friends. Doris enjoyed vacationing in Centerville on Cape Cod as well as Europe and The Caribbean on trips with other grocers affiliated with Sweet Life food distributors. She lived in her own home until last year when she went to live with her daughter, Leanne.

Surviving are two children, Richard (Janina) Pentore and Leanne (David) Carlson; six grandchildren, John (Alyssa), Eric (Nicole), Jaquelyn, Lindsay (Fred), Bill (Leslie), and Mary Kate; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Vivian Bergstrom, her uncle, John Bigotto and his wife Rina, as well as two nephews, and three grandnieces. She leaves her life-long friends, Gilda Alberti, Doris Benenti, Dottie Wrobel, and Ida DiBattista who kept in close contact. Doris was predeceased by her husband Harry, sister-in-law Elsie Dorau, and her friend, Barbara Brochetti. We will miss her sunny disposition and good-natured, fun-loving ways. Before she passed, Doris wanted to thank everyone who was part of her life and her family for taking good care of her in her later years.
