Carlos Ruben Navedo

Carlos Ruben Navedo of Melbourne, FL, passed away on June 4, 2022. Born in Puerto Rico on Jan. 3, 1975, Carlos moved to Connecticut as a young boy. He grew up in New Britain and ran track for New Britain High School. He ran his way to a State Open Championship and New England Cross Country State Champion in 1991. The team took the State Championship again in 1992. Carlos joined the U.S. Army shortly after graduating from New Britain High School in 1994. He married his high school sweetheart, Christina, a woman he spent a lifetime loving.

He served in the Army National Guard before joining the West Melbourne Police Department for roughly 20 years. Through those years with the Police Department, Carlos had many titles, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, but nothing gave him more joy than being titled, Dad to Brandon Navedo, his 17 year old son.

He is survived by his wife, Christina, his son, Brandon, his parents Gladys and Gregorio Navedo, his sister Gladys (husband Ramon), his sister Gloria (husband Pablo), his sister Glenda, his brother Pablo (his wife Maria), his sister Enid and many nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to attend a celebration of life that will take place on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022 at the Smalley Elementary School auditorium, 175 West Street, New Britain. Service will begin at 11 a.m.

In his honor, the family has set-up the Captain Carlos Ruben Navedo Memorial Scholarship.
