Barbara (McCooe) Pagano, formerly of Plainville, passed away at home in Texas unexpectedly on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022, at age 72. Born in East Hartford on Sept. 14, 1949, Barbara was the eldest daughter of the late Stephanie (Nawrocka) & John Keegan McCooe.
Barbara graduated from East Hartford High in 1967, where she was also the class secretary, before studying Administrative Services at Manchester Community College. She worked at Laurel Lanes in Plainville while her children were in school, and then held several positions at the University of Connecticut Health Center before taking early retirement.
Barbara loved music very much, and she could be found listening to and watching anything that pertained to the Eagles or Fleetwood Mac. When she was not enjoying music, she could be found with a Danielle Steel book, especially if it was a sunny pool day in Texas, or watching her favorite shows like Survivor, Real Housewives, or Chicago FD. Anyone that knew Barbara knew her love of two destinations, Aruba and Ireland.
Barbara leaves behind her devoted husband of 41 years, Robert. She is survived by their children, Kim Kostenko of Ledyard, Jon Kostenko of New London, Todd Pagano of Southington and Alicia Pagano of Garland, TX; brother, Jack of Rocky Hill; grandchildren, Kaeley, Kaidan, Ryley, Tristan, Stephaney, Keegan and Emma; and ‘bonus daughter’ Johanna Schultz. Barbara recently became a great-grandmother to baby Oliver, who held a very special place in her heart. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by many aunts and uncles.
At the request of the family, no formal services will be held.
"May the road rise to meet you, and the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm on your face and the rains fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you gently in the palm of his hand.”
