Elizabeth Oshana, 99, of Farmington, passed peacefully on Sept. 11, 2022 at Portland Care and Rehabilitation in Portland. Elizabeth was born in Philadelphia on Dec. 17, 1922. She was employed by the New York Shipyard in Camden, NJ during WWII.
Elizabeth met her late husband, Nicholas and eventually married and settled in Farmington. She is survived by her six children- Nicholas, Jr. of Bristol, Allen of Guilford, Robin Hovanasian of Atkinson, NH, Alexander of Farmington, Rosemary Mitchell of Scarborough, ME and Elliot of Westbrook; her 14 grandchildren – Christina, Christopher, Derrick, David, Stephanie, Philip, Adam, Julian, Gabriel, Nicholas, Benjamin, Olivia, Emily and Matthew.
Elizabeth was also blessed with five great-grandchildren – Tamara, Christina, James, Sarah and Michael; her nephews and nieces – Thomas and Daniel, Nancy and Richard, Lorraine, Charmain, Diane and Dawn; as well as many great-nieces and nephews. As an active member of St. Thomas Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East in New Britain, Elizabeth served in the Women’s Auxiliary for many years.
Funeral rites for Elizabeth will be held, Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 120 Cabot St, New Britain, Ct., with Rev, Pouls Namrood officiating. Her final resting place will be in the St. Thomas Assyrian Cemetery on Barbour Rd, New Britain. Donations may be sent to St. Thomas Church, c/o Cemetery Fund, 120 Cabot St, New Britain, CT 06053.
