Harriet F. Niemczyk, 101, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 12, 2022 at her home. Daughter of the late Damazy and Stella (Dzielinski) Cichowski, she was a lifelong New Britain resident. Harriet worked at Lord & Taylor in West Hartford for many years, where serving her customers brought joy to her life. Her later years were spent serving her family, caring for her elderly mother, who died at 99, and her brother, Paul, who died at 95 in 2013.

Harriet enjoyed feline company and was especially fond of her angora cat, Molly, who left her in 2015. Shortly thereafter she had the privilege of raising the litter of a feral cat in her home which she later described as the "happiest time in her life." The kittens were all adopted afterward, having been spayed and inoculated according to proper protocol.

Harriet was predeceased by her husband, Frank J. Niemczyk; brothers Stanley J. Cichowski, John S. Cichowski and Paul S. Cichowski. She leaves her son, William J. Niemczyk and his wife Nancy, of Granby; her daughter, Barbara F. Slover of Avon, and her grandchildren, Thomas H. Slover and his wife, Michelle of Cedar Lake, In; Mark H. Slover and his wife, Keira of Barnestable, Ma. She also leaves her two great-grandchilden, Nathan and Amery Slover of Barnestable, Ma., and several nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, Sept. 19th from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, New Britain.
