PLAINVILLE - A member of Plainville High Schoolâ€™s staff has resigned after an investigation concerning â€śinappropriate off-campus activitiesâ€ť according to Superintendent of Schools Maureen Brummett.
â€śOn or about April 3 my office learned that one of its former high school staff members is under investigation for allegations concerning inappropriate off-campus activities,â€ť said Brummett.
â€śUpon learning of this information, the staff member was placed immediately on administrative leave with pay and steps were taken to ensure that the employee would not come onto school property. The employee has since resigned employment with the Plainville Community Schools.â€ť
â€śPlainville Community School District members should be reassured that the safety of our children is the districtâ€™s foremost concern and there are many policies and procedures in place to ensure the wellbeing of all our students,â€ť Brummett added.
Brummet declined to comment further on the circumstances of the incident Tuesday.
Lt. Nick Mullins of the Plainville Police Department said the name of the former staff member and what they were charged with could not be released as the case is under active investigation.
Brummett said local authorities are investigating the matter and that district officials are cooperating fully.
