PLAINVILLE - Author Matthew Dicks will speak at the Plainville Public Library May 18 at 7 p.m. in a program sponsored by the Friends of the Plainville Library.
Dicks is the internationally bestselling author of the novels “Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend,” “Something Missing,” “Unexpectedly, Milo,” “The Perfect Comeback of Caroline Jacobs” and the upcoming “Other Mother.” His novels have been translated into more than 25 languages worldwide.
Dicks is the humor columnist for Seasons magazine and has published work in The Hartford Courant, Reader’s Digest, Parents magazine, The Huffington Post and The Christian Science Monitor. He has also written comic books for DoubleTake Comics.
Dicks is also an elementary school teacher, a storyteller, a blogger, a wedding DJ, a minister and a life coach. He has been teaching for 18 years and is the former West Hartford Teacher of the Year and a finalist for Connecticut Teacher of the Year.
Dicks is the 29-time Moth StorySLAM champion and four-time GrandSLAM champion whose stories have been featured on the nationally syndicated Moth Radio Hour and their weekly podcast. He is also the founder and creative director of Speak Up, a Hartford-based storytelling organization that produces shows throughout New England. He teaches storytelling and public speaking throughout the world to individuals, corporations, school districts, and more.
