PLAINVILLE (WFSB) -Police said a 59-year-old woman who was run over by a car and trapped underneath in Plainville died on Sunday morning and the driver has been arrested for driving under the influence.

Officers were called to a crash near a home at 14 Bradley St. just before 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, police determined that two female pedestrians were struck by a vehicle driven by 35-year-old Plainville resident Justine Cusick, and a 59-year-old woman was found to be trapped under the driver’s front side wheel.

Several officers and civilians had to lift the car off the trapped woman.

Police said a 40-year-old woman was hit by the car and suffered minor injuries.

Police said that Cusick and the pedestrian who died were at the same gathering at 14 Bradley Street on Saturday night. Channel 3 spoke to a friend of the woman who was killed. He said he was very distraught but told Eyewitness News all of them were at a get-together. He added they met Cusick for the first time on Saturday night.

Police said an investigation resulted in Cusick being charged with second-degree manslaughter with a vehicle, misconduct with a vehicle, driving under the influence, third-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment, and unsafe backing.

Cusick is being held on a $125,000 bond. She is expected to be arraigned in Bristol Superior Court today.
