PLAINVILLE - The home of Joshua Brunelle will be lit bright to bring Christmas delight starting on Saturday, Dec. 2.
For the fifth year, Brunelle’s house and lawn at 15 Hillscrest Road will be decorated with more than 20,000 lights, inflatables, and a 20-foot “mega tree.”
This year, visitors will be in for a special treat - a holiday light show with several Yuletide tunes.
Brunelle said, “We have 64 sets of lights, which will blink in synch to Christmas favorites like ‘Jingle Bell Rock’, ‘O Christmas Tree’, ‘12 Days of Christmas’, ‘Dominick the Donkey’ and ‘All I Want for Christmas is You.’”
Brunelle will also be collecting toys and nonperishable food items for donation to the Plainville Food Pantry.
“We usually collect 50 to 100 items and this year I made a donation box on the lawn,” he said. “Every time it fills up we will send the donations over. I just wanted to give back to the community which has been such a great audience and to help people that are in need.”
Brunelle said that he began decorating all-out in memory of his mother, who died in 2011.
“Christmas was always special growing up,” he said. “We always decorated the whole house, it was great.”
Each year, Brunelle has been adding more and more decorations.
“Me and my friends Eddie and Chris and my neighbor Neal started putting them up in September and we just finished about a week ago,” he said Tuesday. “There are about 100 extension cords out there and we have a big speaker system set up for the music. Everything has been great these past years. Everybody has loved it. I would encourage anyone who loves Christmas and lightshows to come check it out.”
People can come to Brunelle’s home to see the show Dec. 2 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on its opening night. The show will then run from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday through Jan. 6.
The show may not be held if it rains, Brunelle said.
