PLAINVILLE - A minor train derailment caused traffic delays early Friday.

The incident was reported around 2:30 a.m., at East and East Main streets. Nc cars tipped over, but a railroad crossing was temporarily blocked.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the derailment is unknown.

The scene was cleared in a couple of hours, police said. Nothing toxic was aboard the Pan Am Railways freight train.

Over the summer, the FBI was involved in an investigation to determing whether objects found on tracks in Plainville were being put there by someone trying to derail a train.

Three people were later arrested and charged charged, but they apparently were placing objects on the tracks just to see what would happen to them when a train ran over them, authorities said.
