PLAINVILLE - A local man was sentenced to 30 days in prison on Thursday for leaving the scene of a car accident.

Aaron Benson, 29, of 20 Norton Trail, pleaded guilty to one count each of evading responsibility and second-degree failure to appear, during a hearing in Bristol Superior Court.

According to court officials, Benson on June 8 crashed into a parked car in Plainville on the side of the road and left the scene without locating the vehicle’s owner or leaving his insurance information. No injuries were reported.

Benson was charged in the hit-and-run four days after it occurred. While his case was pending, he failed to show up to a scheduled hearing on Oct. 6.

Benson was sentenced to 30 days in prison, with no period of probation.
