PLAINVILLE - The local AAA office is unable to offer Department of Motor Vehicles services while repairs are done to its store, which was damaged recently by water from a burst pipe.

The AAA store, which will be opening in the coming weeks, will now be in Unit A-2 in the same plaza, at 17 Farmington Ave.

The temporary location can handle all AAA services including travel and insurance, said spokeswoman Amy Parmenter, but it is too small to accommodate DMV services.

People who need DMV services and don’t want to go to a DMV office can go to AAA locations in Cromwell, Avon, West Hartford, Manchester, Enfield, Waterford or Old Saybrook, she said.

Until the temporary office in Plainville opens, those who need AAA services can go to the other locations, she said.

“This is a temporary situation, but we now know it will be for several months rather than weeks or days,” Parmenter said. “AAA looks forward to reestablishing DMV services in a location that is convenient to our Plainville area members and DMV customers as soon as possible.”

An announcement will be made soon about when the temporary office will open, Parmenter said.
