Plainville Chamber preps for golf tournament

PLAINVILLE - The Plainville Chamber of Commerce’s 37th annual golf outing is coming to Tunxis Plantation Sept. 12.

The outing will begin at noon with a shotgun start at the course at 87 Town Farm Road, Farmington. People can register for the 18 hole event starting at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served out on the course and a banquet dinner will be held after at 5:30 p.m.

Free, on-course group photos will be offered.

Prizes will be given out for the best team score, best long drive and closest to pin. There will also be an air cannon contest for a cash prize, a $10,000 prize for a putting contest and a new car will be given out for a hole in one.

Jeff DiCosimo, chair of the Plainville Chamber of Commerce, said that this event is the Chamber’s largest fundraiser and helps to support numerous programs throughout the year.

This year’s golf outing, he noted, is already shaping up to be the largest and most successful that the Chamber has organized in the past five years with 88 golfers signed up as of Thursday.

“If you want to have a fun time and some good networking then this is a good opportunity,” said DiCosimo. “A lot of business people come to this event every year.”

The golf outing will also have raffles, with gifts donated by Advanced Auto Parts, The Window Shop, Premier Portraits, Interstate Aviation, Embroidery a2z, Shear Designs, Black Hawk, Pagliaccis, JTimothy’s, The Plainville Pharmacy, Ed McMahon, Bolo Bakery, Lyman Orchards, Hawks Landing and possibly more.

The following businesses and organizations are gold sponsors for the event: Bailey Funeral Home, Conroy Development, Farmington Bank, LaQuerre and Michaud and Mizzy Construction.

Silver sponsors include Display Craft, the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce, H.D. Segur, Hartford HealthCare, Mastrianni & Segulic, Physical Therapy and Sports and U-Haul of Pinnacle Rock.
