PLAINVILLE - No injuries were reported when a minivan went up in flames on Thursday on Interstate 84 in Plainville.
The car fire was reported around 4:20 p.m. between Exit 33 and 34 westbound. Firefighters arrived within minutes and put the fire out.
The minivan sustained heavy damage and had to be towed after the fully-involved fire.
The fire caused some congestion in the area, but I-84 did not need to be shutdown.
No injuries were reported, and it is unclear how many occupants were inside the minivan when it began burning.
While Plainville firefighters were putting out the car fire, Southington firefighters responded to a false alarm after someone called in the car fire, mistakenly saying it was in Southington, between Exit 31 and 32. Southington firefighters responded and quickly realized the fire was not in their town.
