PLAINVILLE - Award Kitchen & Bath, which offers comprehensive remodeling services from ceiling to floor, was welcomed to town Friday by the Plainville Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon cutting celebration.

Award Kitchen & Bath, at 2 Whiting St., is owned by Tracey Nieroda, who comes from a design background, and Bryan Outlaw, who brings a construction background to the business and is licensed in Connecticut and Florida.

Together, they purchased the 2,000-square-foot building in May and made it their own.

“We had been flipping properties for several years and we enjoy the whole process of renovating and design,” said Nieroda. “We saw that this space was for sale and that it was a good location. The town and the Chamber were very welcoming and the rent was good. Plus, it is surrounded by a lot of other communities that are good to work with.”

Nieroda said Award Kitchen & Bath has a wide variety of styles for flooring, cabinets, doors and other furnishings. She added that she is continually adding new inventory based on popular trends in design.

Nieroda said the service at Award Kitchen & Bath is what sets it apart. Customers are taken through their entire project from design to installation.

“When a customer comes in, we start by taking them around, showing them some of the different designs and talking about what they are looking for,” she said. “Then, I take them into my office and show them samples. We are happy to make suggestions if people want them, but we want our customers to feel like the end result is ‘their kitchen.’ Once we know what they are looking for, we set up an appointment to come over to their home and do measurements, gather information and take photos. Normally, we would charge a $99 fee, but through the end of November there will be no charge for this in celebration of our opening. Once this is done, we will come back, show them a 3-D render of what their kitchen or bath will look like after the renovations and go over it. Then we set a date and go to the contractor.”

Another common type of remodeling work which Nieroda said a lot of people are doing is based around the idea of aging in place. Award Kitchen & Bath can help people who may have increased mobility concerns to live more comfortably, with things like no-lip showers or railing installations.
