PLAINVILLE – Town playgrounds have closed, but parks remain open in Plainville.

Plainville Town Manager Robert E. Lee said a decision was made to close local playgrounds last Friday and they officially did so Monday. Tape has been put up to section them off.

“That includes both the playgrounds at the parks and the playgrounds at the schools,” Lee said.

Additionally, Plainville has taken down the basketball hoops and soccer nets. The skate park has also been closed.

“This way larger groups of people won’t be encouraged to get together and start a game,” he said.

However, the tennis nets remain up. Lee said since that sport is played with only two people who are standing at a distance apart from each other it was decided that people could still play.

“I don’t see a problem as long as it stays to two people,” he said.
