NEW BRITAIN - Plainville is going home with gold.

Plainville capped off its undefeated run though the Nutmeg Games’ 18U Boys Soccer Tournament with a 2-0 over SoccerViza (Norwalk) Sunday afternoon, capturing the bracket’s gold medal.

The victory was in large part thanks to a strong second half in which the team scored both of its goals. One of which came off another strong performance from Dane Stephens.

It also marked the first time in the tournament SoccerViza had been shut out. Coming into Sunday’s game, SoccerViza was averaging just a little two goal per game.

Plainville on the other hand, continued to shut down opponents. Through the Nutmeg Games, the team had only yielded one goal against, while scoring a total of 13 goals for between its three games.
