Stafford Speedway’s all-time winning driver will be receiving the ultimate tribute Friday.
Ted Christopher’s car number, the iconic No. 13, will be retired from weekly modified competition in a special ceremony during Friday’s race program.
Christopher, 59, died in a plane crash Saturday on his way to a Whelen Modified Tour race in Riverhead, N.Y.
Christopher had much of his success at Stafford. In a career that spanned more than 30 years, he collected 131 wins, 109 SK Modified wins and nine SK Modified track championships.
“Since Ted’s first win in 1986 to his last win on Sept. 8, just two weeks ago, he has been a fixture at Stafford,” the track’s general manager Mark Arute said. “We will miss TC but never forget him. We will retire his number from weekly Modified racing at Stafford Speedway this Friday. The number 13 is and always will be Ted’s number.”
The racing program will get underway at 6:15 p.m.
