Roundup: Area golf teams compete in rainy conditions

MIDDLEFIELD -- Goodwin Tech boys golf remained winless in its tri-match loss to Vinal Tech and Wilcox Tech at Indian Springs Golf Club on Wednesday.

Vinal Tech won with a 212, Wilcox was second with a 217 and Goodwin finished up with a 234.

Chris Aniskovic shot a round-best 35 for Vinal Tech, earning medalist honors.

The Gladiators were led by Isaiah Martel who shot a 52, followed by a 60 from Christian Molina and a 61 from both Julien Stepien and Nate Berube.

Goodwin (0-8) will face Grasso Tech and Wolcott Tech on Thursday at Stanley Golf Club at 2 p.m.

GIRLS GOLF

Plainville 231, New Britain 280: The Blue Devils and Hurricanes were able to get a round in at Stanley Quarter Park today despite the rain and the Blue Devils came out on top behind a medal-winning performance from Julia Smith.

Abby Olson was the low-scorer for New Britain, posting a 42 in the loss. The Hurricanes will return to action Monday on the road against Newington, while the Blue Devils will host Berlin on Monday.
