The Connecticut High School Coaches Association announced its picks for the 2021 fall girls volleyball all-state teams, across all classes Tuesday.
In Class L, Bristol Eastern’s Hannah Webber was the lone area player named for all-state as a first-team member.
The team leader in kills, Webber racked up 562, leading the state by over 100 kills. She finished the season at a 46.1% kill percentage. Webber tied for the team leader in aces with 84, led in total blocks with 30 and had 133 digs on defense.
For Class LL, two area players were selected for all-state honors by the CHSCA. On first-team, Southington’s Morgan Birdsey was picked and on second-team Samantha Sklenka of Bristol Central was selected.
Birdsey was the team leader in kills for Southington, racking up 234 for the Blue Knights with kill percentage of 37.4%. From serve, She had 46 aces with a successful serving percentage of 82.2%. Birdsey also had 15 blocks and 121 digs on defense.
Sklenka was a force on the defensive side of things for Central, leading the team in digs with 421 (ranked third in the state) to average 5.1 per set. From serve she had 23 aces with a successful serving percentage of 86.3%. She added 10 kills to her season stat line as well.
In Class M, the Herald-Press area had one player selected for all-state honors. Plainville’s Wiktoria Galazyn was named as a second-team nominee.
Stats were unavailable for Galazyn.
No area players were selected for Class S.
