SOUTHINGTON - The Library’s Read and Relate Book Discussion Group will met on April 19 and will meet again April 28 to discuss “The Shipping News” by Annie Proulx and then watch the film based on the book.

Annie Proulx’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel tells the story of Quolye, a newspaper pressroom worker from upstate New York, who retreats with his two daughters to his ancestral home on the starkly beautiful Newfoundland coast following the traumatic death of his unfaithful wife. A rich cast of local characters and family members all play a part in Quoyle’s struggle to reclaim his life.

After discussing the book on April 19, the group will watch the film starring Kevin Spacey as Quole, Judi Dench as Agnis Hamm and Julianne Moore as Wavey Prowse at 1 p.m. April 28.

For more information or to register, visit the library at 255 Main St. or call 860-628-0947.
