SOUTHINGTON - The Southington Rotary Club is organizing a town-wide cleanup May 20.

Those who wish to participate will meet at the parking lot of the Municipal Center at 200 N. Main St. between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. There is no need to register in advance.

Kelly Leppard, prevention specialist with STEPS and a Rotary Club member, said volunteers will be given garbage bags and safety vests and will then be broken off into groups to tackle different areas of town in need of cleaning.

“HQ Dumpsters is going around and looking for parts of town that could use some help and they have also donated a dumpster to use for this day,” said Leppard. “Some of the other groups that will be participating will be the STEPS Youth Council and Blue Knights Football.”

Leppard encouraged people to join in if they want to help make Southington a cleaner place to live.

“Southington is already beautiful town and we just want it to be as nice as it can be,” said Leppard.
