SOUTHINGTON - From dance parties and a spooky escape room to dining on a new outdoor patio - there’s a lot buzzing at Crystal Bees.
The entertainment center at 240 Spring St., which features bowling, a bar and a variety of games, has been hard at work lining up several new fun activities.
Kari Brave, general manager, said that the first upcoming attraction will be a car show held Monday nights starting Aug. 14 and lasting seven weeks.
Crystal Bees will also have an all-age dance party for $5 on Friday nights throughout the coming school year starting Sept. 8 with DJ K-OZ from 8 p.m. to midnight. DJ K-OZ will come prepared with playlists and also take requests.
“It will be a safe, fun environment for local high school students to come, dance and play,” said Brave.
“Evidence of Evil” will also be bringing an escape room to the center from Sept. 29 through the month of October. The activity will be held every weekend with $15 entry. Participants will also be given a $10 arcade card. She said that the challenge will take an average of five minutes.
“Evidence of Evil is run by the general manager of the Haunted Graveyard at Lake Compounce,” she said. “They reached out to us, and we thought it would be really cool to have here.”
Additionally, at 4 p.m. on Sept. 1, during the Labor Day weekend, Crystal Bees will celebrate the ribbon cutting of its outdoor dining patio, currently under construction, with the Waterbury Chamber of Commerce. There will also be an outdoor “kids zone” with activities for children that day, and the Murray the Wheel Band will perform indoors.
“We will have eight tables and fire pits, which will be perfect for fall nights,” said Brave. “The outdoor dining will then pick up again in the summer.”
Brave said these new features represent a “good turning of the corner” for Crystal Bees, which opened for business in March of last year.
“We have started to really see business picking up in the past several months and we hope to see that continue with these new activities and promotions,” she said. “We hope that they will help to introduce us to the community.”
