SOUTHINGTON - The Barnes Museum and The Southington Orchard Valley Garden Club will hold a pumpkin-carving contest on the grounds of the museum Sept. 30.
The contest will be held at the Barnes Museum, at 85 N. Main St., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first Saturday of the Southington Apple Harvest Festival. Festivalgoers will determine the winners by People’s Choice balloting.
All completed carved pumpkin entries should be brought to the Barnes Museum on Sept. 28 from 1 to 7 p.m., Sept. 29 from 1 to 5 p.m., and from 9 to 10 a.m. Sept. 30.
All pumpkins must be on the grounds to begin the open judging by 10 a.m. Sept. 30.
Entry forms may be filled out upon arrival or ahead of time as they will be available at the Barnes Museum, the Southington Public Library or at SoCCA.
The entry fee for adults is $5 and children under 12 are free. Adult prizes will be $100 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place. Children will receive first, second and third place ribbons and free ice cream certificates donated by Pat’s Ice Cream on Main Street. Winners need not be present.
