NEW BRITAIN-Looking for something to do this weekend, but not sure where to start? Here is a round-up of events happening Saturday and Sunday. From art exhibitions to concerts, a winter themed party and a community sale, there’s something for all ages. The best part of all? Most of them are free.

Plein Air Exhibit reception at the Southington Community Cultural Arts
From 1-3 p.m. the work of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society will be open to visitors in the Hopko Performance Hall. The “plein air” concept encourages painters to leave their studios and work in the great outdoors. A demonstration illustrating the plein air tradition will be given by Mark Boedges at 11:30 a.m.
Build a Gingerbread House at the Plainville Public Library
The Plainville Historical Society is hosting a family Christmas event at the Plainville Public Library from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Families can build and decorate a gingerbread house for $5 to cover the expenses of the materials. Register by calling the Historic Center at 860-747-6577 or 860-747-3532.
Small Works Exhibition and Sale at the Art League of New Britain
A fine art showcase and sale by practicing artists in the area will be going on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. and Wednesdays from 4-7 p.m. until Dec. 17. Latin Carol Sing at Central Connecticut State University
The Modern Language Department at CCSU will host the Classical Association of Connecticut (ClassCONN) for their second annual Latin Carol Sing on Sunday at 4 p.m. in Founders Hall, which is located in Davidson Hall building. Community Day at the New Britain Museum of American Art
From 12-5 p.m., celebrate the holiday season with the New Britain Museum of American Art’s annual community day. Whitechapel Handbell Choir will be singing Christmas classics like “Silent Night” and “Still, Still, Still” beginning at 2 p.m. The group will also teach guests about the history and function of the bells. Admission to the museum will be free all day.
Christmas Concert at Bethany Covenant Church
A festive contact will be led by artists and musicians from 4-6 p.m. at the church located at 785 Mill St. in Berlin. Following the concert will be a social hour with food and drink. Admission is free to attend.
