SOUTHINGTON â€“ The Connecticut Breast Health Initiative is hoping itâ€™s supporters will enjoy a beer at Witchdoctor Brewing Company next on Thursday for a special, CT BHI-themed event.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the Thursday, Feb. 22 at Witchdoctor Brewing Company 10 percent of all beer sales at in Southington will go to the CT BHI. There will also be CT BHI themed trivia with a free â€śRace in the Parkâ€ť registration as a prize. Anyone who wears pink will be eligible to enter a drawing for a free beer.
Representatives from CT BHI will be at the brewery with a table and display where people can learn more about the organization, register for Race in the Park, purchase CT BHI gear or make a cash donation.
Josh Norris, owner of Witchdoctor, said the brewery has been reaching out to organizations recently to host events like this.
â€śItâ€™s a good way for them to raise some moenye and it gives us a boost as well,â€ť Norris said. â€śWe do what we can to help when we can.â€ť
On Feb. 10 the Bridgeport Sound Tigers hosted a Pink in the Rink event that benefited the CT BHI, raising $5,741.85. It was one of many events the organization is hosting leading up to its flagship Race in the Park event, which is less than three months away. Scheduled for May 12, the organizationâ€™s flagship event draws runners from all over the country to Walnut Hill Park on the Saturday before Motherâ€™s Day. This year is the 15th anniversary of the first Race in the Park and organizers are expecting more than 4,000 participants.
