SOUTHINGTON - A local man has been charged after allegedly throwing a glass bottle through a sliding door and into a home where a woman and her child were sleeping.

Police said James Allen, 29, was charged Sunday with risk of injury to a minor, second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree breach of peace, second-degree threatening and second-degree reckless endangerment.

Allen, according to police, was arrested after he allegedly went to his ex-girlfriend’s home and threw the bottle through a glass sliding door, shattering it. The victim called police, but Allen left before officers arrived.

A couple hours later, the complainant was talking to one of Allen’s relatives when Allen began shouting into the phone, threatening the woman, police said. The victim again contacted police and reported the incident.

Allen turned himself in shortly thereafter. He is free on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on June 19.
