SOUTHINGTON - A local woman involved in a house fire over the weekend has died.

The blaze, reported Saturday shortly before 10 p.m. at 630 Prospect St., took firefighters hours to extinguish.

As of late Monday morning, the identity of the victim had not been released.

She and a pet were the only ones home when the flames burst out.

She was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The cause of the fire, which also killed the pet, has also not been determined, and the local fire marshal’s office and the state police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit are still investigating.

Town property records list Loretta Miron as the owner of the single-family, ranch-style home. The brick house was built in 1968.
