SOUTHINGTON - A crisis intervention team talked a potentially suicidal woman out of her home Tuesday afternoon without incident, police said.
Police received a report that a 71-year-old woman on Marion Avenue was suicidal and may have had access to guns, Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said.
Officers surrounded the house and called in the Central Region Emergency Response Team to talk the woman out.
She came outside peacefully around 7:30 p.m. and was taken to a local medical facility for mental health evaluation, Dobratz said.
Three guns were found in the house, but they weren’t loaded and there was no ammunition in the house, he said. The guns were seized pending a hearing with the state Board of Firearms.
No arrests were made, Dobratz said.
