SOUTHINGTON - Police have arrested two women in a sting operation prompted by numerous complaints of prostitution at local motels.

Darlene Martino, 55, of Wolcott, and Brandy Milone, 28, of Waterbury, each face one count of prostitution. Martino also has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said they conducted their undercover operation last Tuesday. An undercover officer, working with the department’s Special Investi-gations Unit, posed as a customer looking for sex. The officer, police said, contacted “several known prostitutes” who were looking for clients on social media and other websites.

The officer made arrangements to meet the suspects at a motel, where “discussions of exchanging money for sexual conduct” were made, according to police.

Martino and Milone are each free on a $500 non-surety bond. They are scheduled to be arraigned next Monday in Bristol Superior Court.
