Parking bans in area towns went into effect Sunday evening as local residents prepared for the second of two weekend storms.

New Britain’s parking ban went into effect at 6 p.m. Bristol’s emergency ban went into effect at 10 p.m. Vehicles parked on any city streets are subject to towing so plows can get through to clear the snow.

This storm is expected to drop 5 to 10 inches of snow across Central Connecticut Sunday night and Monday morning. It will be more significant than Saturday’s storm, which only left an inch or two.

WFSB meteorologist Mike Cameron said snow will spread across the state by 8 or 9 p.m. and continue overnight. Precipitation is expected to end by midday Monday.
